FAQs

I've never been to counseling before. What can I expect?

Counseling is a collaborative process in which the client and the counselor work together as the client moves toward a self identified goal. You can expect your therapist to create a warm environment that makes the more uncomfortable experiences safe.

How many sessions will I need?

This is a very direct question with a nuanced response. The truth is that this will largely be based on the indvidual, what the undelrying issues are, and which therapeutic approach may be necessary. In short, it depends.

What counseling theories do you use?

Some of the theories that we use include DBT, CBT, Solutions Focused Therapy, and Emotion Focused Therapy.

How do you approach couples sessions?

Sounds of Mind Counseling utilizes Dr. Sue Johnson's Emotion Focused Couples therapy (EFT). EFT is a short-term, attachment based model. EFT is evidence-based and works to assist couples in breaking out of negative cycles while introducing new, more effective cycles.

What insurance do you accept?

Currently we are providers for Anthem Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Healthlink, and Tricare.

Let us help you find care that's right for you.
